I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Tanner Williams Elementary School.  We are a school rich in history and community involvement.  We are proud to have deep roots in this community.  Our school has a staff of highly-trained and dedicated teachers and faculty.  We consider our school and our neighbors one big extended family.  We welcome you into this family.  We are here to serve you in any way.

I would like to provide an overview of our schedules and procedures as you prepare for our daily routine.

1.  Students may enter the building at 7:45.  Those who eat breakfast may go down to the cafeteria; breakfast and lunch are free of charge!  Students not eating breakfast, will sit in the hallway in a designated spot.  Students may enter their classrooms at 8:00.

2.  The first bell rings at 8:00.  Students are considered tardy at 8:20.  Instructions begins promptly at 8:20.  It is critical that your child be on time so they can be present for the roll, lunch count, and collection of snack money before instructions begins.  We ask that parents not walk students to class.  Parents who walk their children to class often want to visit with teachers.  Teachers are pressed for time in order to complete daily "housekeeping" such as taking roll and collecting money.  They need every minute in the morning to prepare for classes and start class on time.

 3.  Students reporting after 8:20 are tardy.  Parents must accompany those students to the office and sign them in.

4.  Announcements begin at 8:20 and students begin morning work.

5.  Afternoon announcements begin at 3:05. Car riders are dismissed to the carline with the car rider bell at 3:10. There will be staff on duty to assist with dismissal.  Do not leave your vehicle when picking up children.  A staff member will walk your child to your car.  This is vital to ensure student safety. Bus riders are dismissed at 3:20 with the bus rider bell.  Do not go to your child's classroom for an early dismissal.  You must sign your child out at the office.  Office staff will call your child to the office.  This is for your child's safety.  Please do not sign students out to avoid waiting in the car line. There are NO early dismissal after 2:45pm!

6.  If you have any changes in your "pick-up" routine, please send a note to your child's teacher.  We do not accept phone calls to change the way your child will go home.  Written communication from you will enable us to serve your child and ensure his/her safety.  If you get your child out for an early dismissal, you must have a picture I.D.  Only adults on the registration card may pick up your child.  All people on the card must be 18 years old or older and have a valid picture I.D.
